Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
General Questions
Do I need a referral to see a physiotherapist?
No, you do not need a referral to see a physiotherapist. You can book an appointment directly as we are trained to provide evidence-based diagnosis. However, if you are claiming under Workers’ Compensation, CTP Insurance, or Medicare (EPC/CDM plan), a referral from your GP is required.
What should I expect during my first appointment?
Your initial consultation will include:
- A comprehensive assessment of your condition.
- Discussion of your medical history and symptoms.
- A hands-on treatment session tailored to your needs.
- Development of a personalised treatment plan and exercises if needed.
How long are your consultations?
- Initial consultations: 30 minutes or 60 minutes, depending on the complexity of your condition. We recommend 60 minute sessions to allow our senior physiotherapists to perform a thorough diagnosis, develop an exercise program, and include manual therapy or dry needling as needed.
- Lillian only accepts 60 minute initial consults to ensure the most thorough diagnosis and a fast-tracked recovery plan.
- Follow-up sessions: 30 minutes or 60 minute, depending on your needs.
- Shorter consults are available for strapping or brace fittings – please contact reception directly to book these.
Will I be in a shared room during my treatment?
No, we take pride in providing 100% one-on-one focus for our patients. Unlike other clinics that may leave you unattended doing exercises or place you on electrotherapy while treating other patients, we do not do this. Our approach ensures the best care and fully tailored programs for each individual.
What are your opening hours?
Our opening hours are:
Monday: 8am – 5pm
Tuesday: 8am – 5pm
Wednesday: 9am – 5pm
Thursday: 7.30am – 7.30pm
Friday: 7.30am – 4pm

I’ve just injured myself. Should I see a physio now or wait a few days?
We recommend seeing us as soon as possible after an injury. Early assessment allows us to provide the best advice and start your recovery immediately. Delaying treatment can prolong recovery time.
I’ve woken up with a stiff neck or neck pain. What should I do?
First, try moving your neck as much as possible. Most of the time, neck pain isn’t due to a serious injury, and movement will help. Come see us, and we can begin treatment right away!
I’ve got persistent lower back pain. Can physiotherapy help?
Yes! Physiotherapy can help manage and relieve most cases of lower back pain. If your condition requires another type of specialist care, we will direct you to the most appropriate health professional.
I’ve just had knee/hip replacement surgery. When can I see a physio?
You can start rehabilitation as soon as you leave the hospital or after your stay in a rehab facility. We help with pain relief, improving movement, and restoring function to help you return to your normal activities.
I’ve injured my ACL while playing sport. Should I see a physiotherapist or a GP?
If you can still walk after your injury, immediate physiotherapy can help. We manage ACL injuries conservatively (without surgery) and can refer you for a surgical assessment if necessary. If you cannot put weight on your leg, we recommend seeing a GP for an MRI scan to assess the need for surgery.
I’ve been told I need to wear a brace. Can you help?
Billing & Insurance
Will my sessions be covered by private health insurance?
Most private health funds cover physiotherapy as part of their extras cover. We offer on-the-spot HICAPS claims. The rebate you receive depends on your fund and level of cover.
Can I claim physiotherapy through Medicare?
Physiotherapy is not generally covered under Medicare, but you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate under a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan or EPC plan from your GP. Medicare does not cover the full cost, only a partial subsidy.
Do you accept WorkCover and CTP claims?
Yes, we accept WorkCover and CTP (motor vehicle accident) claims. You will need an approved claim number and GP referral before starting treatment.
Do you treat DVA patients?
